Everybody wants to rule the world.

There are a few certain sounds one files away to recall for the rest of their life, and honestly I thought the sound I'd always draw to is that familiar whir of the Tardis getting ready to leave... just not without me on it. I always thought... well maybe not always because trust me there was a time there where my thoughts were smack dab in the middle of not sticking to one place, or one actual good dead... no matter the gal or hell guy going along for the ride with me. It was a time when I was out for myself and it suited me just fine. Things change though, and boy do they set your life onto a different course... if you let them.

Maybe nothing is supposed to last forever, but I have a feeling it's going to take me a long time to even find out the truth to that one. See there was a moment a while ago that changed me. Can't be fixed, can't be broken either apparently, but I'm just not exactly the same as I was before. I saw that light at the end of the tunnel and the funny thing is that right when I thought I knew what the hell I was in for... it shifted to a brilliant yellow and then... here I am, and there he went.

Now I've gotten the explanation as to the why of it, and I know that over the years that I've had to exist knowing what I know that the answer he gave me was the right one. Maybe I just didn't see it back then. Back then we were a team, fighting the evil and disgusting, stopping their little plans and making the universe, yeah I said universe, a better place to exist in.

But like the song says, nothing lasts forever and for once I don't need someone else to help me decide. All the time that I've had to relive, and run through once more... the year that never was, the stuck in the past of my life...

See everyone wants to rule the world, and nothing lasts forever but its gonna last long enough for about half of them to actually think they can get away with it... and I'll just be there to make sure they wake up and realize... I'm Captain Jack Harkness and that's just not the design of things today.
